Which party would you vote for, if general elections were held today?

Results of 21st May 2007

Are you satisfied with the various parties' work? Do you think that the government shall be voted out of power and the opposition shall take over? Or do you think that Malta needs even a coalition between two parties? Or don't you want any changes?
General elections are still far away (later in 2007 or 2008). But what if.... What if general elections were held today? Which party would you vote for?

Between 11th and 21st May 2007 well over 1,000 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

1,140 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 44 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 44 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 1,072.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
PN (Nationalist Party):           328 votes   =   30,60 %
MLP (Malta Labour Party):         313 votes   =   29,20 %
AD (Green Party):                 211 votes   =   19,68 %
Other Parties:                      5 votes   =    0,47 %
Non Voters:                       215 votes   =   20,06 %

INTERPRETATIONS:

This means that for the first time since 1962 the Maltese parliament would host 3 parties. And to obtain a majority a government would have to consist of at least two parties, so a coalition government would become reality.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The current government party PN would again be the strongest fraction in parliament (although it would be very tight),  although it loses votes in the fifth consecutive month. The second strongest would be MLP, also losing votes compared to last month. The difference between PN and MLP is steady at almost 1.5%. Also the votes for AD decrease in May. The biggest change could be noticed amongst the NonVoters, their number increased drastically by more than 5%.

The big winner would again be
Alternattiva Demokratika (the Maltese Greens) as they would enter parliament.

This shows very well, that the Maltese people still want a third party in parliament and that neither PN nor MLP have as much support as they used to have over the past few decades.

For democracy a 3 party parliament would definitely be healthy.
