Do you see the adoption of the Euro as single currency as an opportunity/chance or as a threat/risk?


Results of 30th September 2006


The Euro shall be adopted as single currency in Malta in 2008. The promotion propaganda therefore is massive. Various government and non-government organisations inform the public about the opportunities that the Euro can give as well as the risks that have to be considered when adopting the European single currency. Everyone has to decide for himself/herself whether the adoption of the Euro is an opportunity/chance or a threat/risk.

Between 13th and 30th September 2006 well over 500 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

575 votes were cast in this poll.
Unfortunately, there were 24 people who voted more than one time. Thevotes of these 24 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain aresult which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 519.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
Opportunity/Chance:                175 votes   =   33,72 %
Threat/Risk:                       171 votes   =   32,95 %
Neutral:                           173 votes   =   33,33 %


INTERPRETATIONS:

The result of a poll can hardly be more balanced. One thrid of the pollsters see the Euro adoption as an opportunity/chance, one third see it as a threat/risk, and the remaining thrid sees it to be neutral, meaning either both or none of the other two options.

The editor would like to point out, thatthis poll is not representative for the whole country. However, itgives a clear indication anyway.

Many people still do not know enough about the Euro. However, information about all aspects of the Euro as single currency are available to the public.
