Irregular Immigrants III - Does the European Union do enough to handle the problem of irregular immigrants well?

There is no hotter issue that concerns the Maltesepeople than the problem of irregular immigrants. Every week boats with20, 30 or even more people of mainly African origin land in Malta. Someof them escape from wars or civil wars in theirhome countries, others try to leave the poverty behind them in searchof a better life in Europe. At their arrival they often require medicaltreatment and vaccination besides food, clothes and a place to live, ofcourse. The tetension camps arefilling up more and more. Malta's capacities for refugees are reached,but the stream of incoming irregular immigrants doesn't want to stop.This problem has to be handled well. The question now is whether the European Union does enough to handle that problem well.

Between 13th and 30th September 2006 well over 200 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

252 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 20 people who voted more than one time. Thevotes of these 20 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain aresult which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 230.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
Yes:                                        64 votes   =   27,83 %
No:                                        166 votes   =   72,17 %


INTERPRETATIONS:

Almost three quarters of the online pollsters believe that the European Union does not handle the problem of irregular immigrants well. The people are not satisfied with the politicians in Brussels and Strasbourg concerning handling this matter. The EU has to work on this.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The Problem of Irregular Immigrants concerns us all. It is important that everyone works together in this matter
. The EU also needs the people's assistance. I would imagine, that the EU is open for suggestions. It can only win.
