Which name shall the new hospital have?

Results of 30th June 2007

Mater Dei or San Gorg Preca? The new hospital was inaugered just a few weeks ago and thousands of people visited the new place to see what they had paid their taxes for."Impressive!" is what many people said when leaving the hospital. For more than a decade this project dominated the news now and then, and its name ("Mater Dei") is known by everyone in Malta. But shall this name be kept? It also stands for big scandals, for corruption and for big tax burdens. Why not change the name to one that the Maltese associate something more positive with? Malta just got its first saint. Why not naming the new hospital after him ("San Gorg Preca")?

So the question is simple. Which name shall the new hospital have?

Between 15th and 30th June 2007 well over 150 people
participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

172 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 5 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 5 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 166.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:

Sptar Mater Dei:                            93 votes   =   56,02 %
Sptar San Gorg Preca:                       73 votes   =   43,98 %

INTERPRETATIONS:

A majority of voters (56 per cent) want to keep the name "Mater Dei". Still the percentage for "San Gorg Preca" is not too low with 44 per cent respectively.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

A name is always something very personal. The editor of www.malta-surveys.com does not want to comment on this.
