Should the Maltese Rent Laws be reformed?

Results of 20th February 2007

The National Rent Laws date back to the year 1939. Since then life has changed and living space has become less while prices exploded. More often than not buying a house cannot be afforded, but still banks and the market forces people into a life with debts. A way out of this problem could be a reform of these antiquated Rent Laws which could lead to more living space at affordable prices.

What do you think? Should the Maltese Rent Laws be reformed?

Between 10th and 20th February 2007 almost 200 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

212 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 5 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 5 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 191.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
Yes:                              162 votes   =   84,82 %
No:                                29 votes   =   15,18 %

INTERPRETATIONS:

An overwhelming majority of almost 85 per cent want the Rent Laws to be reformed.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The results of this poll show very well, that action is needed. The government and the opposition should work out plans for a reform to come into effect soon.
