In which field/sector does service have to be improved mostly?

Results of 20th October 2006

Tourism is not doing well in Malta in 2006. People argue about this and different reasons are being mentioned. Once reason could be the bad service that is often found in the tourism industry. Meeting unfriendly or even rude taxi or bus drivers, waiting long for the ordered food or drinks in restaurants and getting false information by incompetent personnel in hotels are only a few recurring incidents that tourists report about. Have you maybe also made such experience yet? What do you think? Is the service offered in tourism industry good enough? In which field/sector does service have to be improved mostly?

Between 1st and 20th October 2006 around 250 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

271 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 10 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 10 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 250.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
Accomodation:                      96 votes   =   38,40 %
Gastronomy / Catering:             28 votes   =   11,20 %
Transport:                         94 votes   =   37,60 %
Tourist Guiding:                    3 votes   =    1,20 %
Entertainment:                      4 votes   =    1,60 %
Cultural Sites:                     5 votes   =    2,00 %
Promoting Tourism:                 94 votes   =   37,60 %

INTERPRETATIONS:

This means that a majority really believed what they had heard before. They did not expect more financial burden in the upcoming budget. But only one per cent less were sceptical and expected higher taxes and charges. A bit less than seven per cent of the voters did not know what to answer to the question.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The people were aware of the upcoming budget, but still devided in the question of whether they can trust their political representatives or not.

As we know now, 47 per cent were right. The budget 2007 did not put more financial burden on the taxpayers.
